Cycle-ways
The Parco Groane has a rich net of cycle-ways which is constantly improved and increased. It is already possible to spend a whole day by bike among woods, moorlands, and cultivated fields remaining in the heart of the metropolis. The track starts in the Pinewood of Cesate, it goes along first Corso Europa, and then the Riserva naturale della Cà del Re, it passes under the national road Bustese (Saronno-Monza), and reaches the Park Center "Polveriera" in Solaro.
From here, the itinerary goes ahead towards the North: along an old military structure, the railway (the subway is under construction), it crosses the woods of Ceriano Laghetto (the nice pond of "Foppa di S. Dalmazio" is worth a note). From the woods, the track leads to the plateau of Seveso, a wide moorland where a rare species of willow grows. |
The itinerary passes near the ruins of an ancient furnace used once for the brick production, and then it reaches the huge woods of S. Andrea, very interesting for their forests and landscape. It is also possible to go through a ring-route in the middle of the wood, reaching Misinto and going back through the wood of Curato, where the oldest oaks grow.
Other branches give the possibility to go ahead to Lazzate, or to reach Barlassina, Solaro, Brollo, Cesate. New tracks will be realized towards Milano, through the area of Castellazzo.
The cycle-way is not a race or mountain bike circuit. It is dedicated to pleasant and quiet excursions, alone, with the family, or with friends. Therefore, do not run, and do not leave traces of your passage. |

Guide to the Visit of "Caloggio" - Bollate
The Oasis of Caloggio was created by the local WWF section, and it is situated along via Verdi in Bollate. It is possible to visit a didactic reforestation and some dry springs. From Caloggio, beyond the channel Scolmatore, you can walk along the itinerary of the seven falls which goes along a secondary channel of the Villoresi, until you reach Castellazzo. |

The Woods of Cesate

The most characteristic path of the Pinewood of Cesate is the one you can reach from the road to Senago, which diagonally crosses the woods towards the South. It is possible to admire the Scotch fir wood (strongly promoted by the foresters since the times of Maria Teresa from Austria), the moorland and the oak wood, formed by British and bay oaks. In the middle there is the nice little lake of Manuè, a precious relict wetland biotope of the upper plain of Lombardia, with formations of bog moss and cane-brakes. The Pinewood of Cesate is a very important place as far as the habitat is concerned, and it is the nearest natural wood to the "Madonnina". |
The Woods of S. Andrea
| The itinerary starts in the parking area of S. Andrea, in the Town of Misinto (exit Lentate sud of the national road SS Dei Giovi). It is a ring-route which you can go through both on foot and by bike, and it entirely develops in the widest wood of the Park. It starts in a meadow which has been recently surrounded by the reforestation carried out by the Consorzio (there are specific signals to recognize the plants); it follows the indications to Misinto, going along a suggestive field surrounded by woods and reaching a little natural theater ideal for resting, situated at the entrance of the small quarter. By going eastwards, the itinerary crosses the wood of Curato, one of the best oak woods of the Park, including more than 80-year-old trees. Then you will return to the starting point, in the parking area. |
